My Daughter Charlsie

She's smart, she's kind, she's beautiful and most of all, she's my oldest daughter. Charlsie Jones is celebrating her 12th birthday.

She was born on October 12, 1995. I remember that night as though it just happened. My wife and I were heading to the hospital at 7:03 that morning only to find out it was a false alarm. The doctor gave her two pills. They were suppose to calm her down. You would've thought she had a fifth of Hennesy. At 7:15 pm, the contractions started again and this time I knew they were real...I watch T.V.! I had to carry her down the steps to the car because she couldn't stand. The pills had taken the drunken woman effect on her. When we arrived at the hospital, security wanted to call the police on me. He thought I'd beat her, she was down on the passenger side floor.

We got to the room and the doctor said there's no time for an epidural. I grabbed him by his collar and said in a very, very, very demanding voice "You will give my wife an epidural!" He then said in a very calm voice "Mr. Jones, do you see that patch of hair right there, that's your daughters head." My wife gave birth naturally to Charlsie. I still get chills. They would've had to cut me.

Here are a few shots from the party. I hope you enjoy them

Comments from my Mentor

Hi everyone,

I just want to say something really quick..."something really quick"...get it? Ok, Ok...I'm not a comedian. There is a gentleman (haven't met him face to face yet) who's photography inspires me daily. He resides in Atlanta, Ga. I read his blogs 6 or 7 times daily just waiting for him to add new pics or write about something new!!! Well, he has blessed me with a couple of comments that mean a lot. His name is Ross Oscar Knight.

  • Ross Knight has left a new comment on your post "News Anchors Head Shots.": These are great!
  • Ross Knight has left a new comment on your post "Angel": Glad to see you blogging man. You are an inspiration to me as well! Nice photos. Keep 'em coming.KNIGHT - ATL

I had no idea he even read my blogs. This is huge for me. It's like the master commending the student on a job well done. (laughing)

I know you like my photography but if you want to see where a lot of my ideas of todaycome from, then go to his site. His work is incredible. He just shot a wedding in Barbados and I was up til 3am Monday morning waiting to see some new pics on his blog. Well, they are now there.

Thanks Ross, I really appreciate the comments. I'm now working on getting my Nikon 85 1.4. My 2x2 will be in the mail soon.

Angel

I love to hear people sing. Although I'm not an American Idol judge, I know what my ears like and don't like. Well, I was blessed with the opportunity to hear a young lady by the name of "Angel" sang. That's right I said "SANG!" There's a big difference in singing and sangin. If you didn't know that, then you need to stop by "Word of Life Community Church" one Sunday for some good Word and some good sangin.

Last Friday, Angel had an Album release concert at the church and it was well worth the drive...although I only live a couple of blocks away. Some people came from as far as Texas. That concert was incredible! I had to calm myself and choose shots wisely. I really tried to capture it all.

Here a few shots from the event. If you weren't there, you missed a good one.

Thank you Shawn Porter for asking me to do this. I hope I got what you were looking for.
