Poarch Creek Indians

I had the opportunity of attending an Indian Pow Wow in Atmore, Alabama. This is the Indian way of celebrating Thanksgiving. Here are some photos from the event. It was wonderful seeing so many of my family members. Why do you think I have all of this good hair, you guys know I have Indian in my family. (Laughing)

This first Gentlmen is "Two Clouds." He explained a lot to me about what was going on and why they wore what they had on. The proper name for their attire is "Rigalia." I don't have a clue if I'm spelling it correctly. It sounds like Ri-gale-ya. Like that helps.

My nephew Qualin and I had a great time and I can't wait to get back there next year.

I love these pictures and your comments. I would like to have your permission to use your page for my school paper. I am a special education major and I am doing a paper on the different cultures in my community. One of which is the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. Thanks, Jennifer.
